Safe Working In Water Rescue 3 Training - Global Environmental Consultancy

Challenge

APEM/Aspect Ecology is a global environmental consultancy providing independent advice and guidance to support government and environmental regulatory guidelines. With staff based all over the UK that take freshwater samples, perform emergency fish rescues and carrying out surveys in and around water they needed employees to be trained to operate safely in and around moving water locations solo and as part of a team.

Our Approach

Over the last few years Adventure Consultancy has taken hundreds of this group's staff through the 2-day Rescue 3 Safe Working in Water course, valid for 3 years, equipping them with the skills to risk assess, work safely by and in the water and perform self and colleague basic self rescues should they be required. Day one is spent in our classroom at our 30-acre site in Shropshire going through theory and breaking up the day with some throwbag work outside. We start this day at 10am to allow those that can to travel in the morning. Day two is offsite at one of the various local river options locally going through practical bank based and in-water exercises in full PPE which we supply- including drysuits and under suit fleecy onesies!

Outcome and Key Results

The team building elements and engaging quality of the courses' delivery has led to candidate confidence in their work out in the field, and repeated bookings with us from the APEM group. Here's what their Training Lead has to say about our partnership;
